10 Women Need a Home
Ten Women is an art gallery in Santa Monica, or was. It was comprised of a group of women artist acting as a kind of art co-op. However they apparently have had to vacate their space in Santa Monica as can be seen by this image of a sign on their once opened gallery space on Main. On their website they clearly state that they are in need. They have a Go Fund me campaign going on to raise funds to re-open. I am kind of breaking my own rules of my site here but it is so hard for women to be independent and to be accepted as artists. Women are expected almost to be better than men to achieve artistic integrity, but also are paid less and given less. I therefor am doing this as my way of saying things need to change.
Apparently Ten Women will be doing a show gallery pop up this weekend from June 1 to June 3rd at 1128 Montana Ave, Santa Monica. There Go Fund me page has already collected over $1000. I hope they find a way to land on their feet. It takes a great deal of courage to put out your art to try to make something of it. More women need to be seen as talented and able to create and to be employed as talent. To see how talented the women of “Ten Women” are visit their website “Our Artists” page online or go see their work live on Montana while you can.
